'My Uterus Was Removed Without My Consent': Udit Narayan's First Wife Files Complaint in Bihar

Patna/Supaul: Renowned playback singer Udit Narayan is once again in the spotlight after his first wife, Ranjana Jha, lodged a complaint against him at the Supaul Mahila Thana in Bihar, alleging deception, neglect and serious medical misconduct.

In her complaint, Ranjana Jha has alleged that her uterus was removed without her knowledge or consent at a prominent hospital in New Delhi. The allegation is part of a broader grievance detailing long-standing marital discord.

Ranjana, who resides in Supaul, stated that she married Udit Narayan on December 7, 1984. “Udit, however, left for Mumbai in 1985 to pursue his singing career. Through media reports, I later came to know that he married Deepa Narayan and since then had been staying with her,” she said in her complaint.

She further stated that a case of marital discord and deception is already pending. “Udit, though admitted to his first marriage, never gave me the status of his first wife nor supported me financially,” she alleged.

Ranjana also claimed that when she travelled to Mumbai about two decades ago, she was not allowed to enter the singer’s residence. “The same treatment was meted out to me at my in-laws’ house,” she said, adding that she lodged a police case in 2006 following the incident. “Eventually, Udit promised to support me financially, but he never kept that promise,” she alleged.

Now 61 and reportedly unwell, Ranjana has sought financial assistance from the singer, saying she requires support for her health and livelihood. Confirming receipt of the complaint, Anju Tiwari, Station House Officer (SHO) of Supaul Mahila Thana, said, “We have received a complaint from Ranjana Jha. We are investigating the matter as the issue is 30 years old. We will proceed further after proper inquiry.”

There has been no immediate response from Udit Narayan regarding the fresh allegations. Police said further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry.
