Patna, (Bihar Times): Another Bihar ruling party politician was attacked by the flood victims in Araria district on Wednesday. The target this time was Ramji Rishideo, minister of state for forest and environment in the Nitish Kumar government. However, he received minor injuries and was referred to Referral Hospital in Forbesganj for first aid treatment.
According to the superintendent of police M A Siddiqui the minister’s car fell into a ditch near Achra village when he was proceeding to Forbesganj to attend a programme of Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi.
He said that the minister’s staff approached the people sheltered in relief camps at Achra who refused pull out the car following which a quarrel ensued. Soon, nearly 200 flood-affected people gathered and manhandled the security men accompanying the minister.
The victims raised pro-Lalu Prasad and anti-Nitish Kumar slogans, smashed the windscreen of the car. However, a police patrol, which happened to pass by, intervened and safely escorted the minister to Forbesganj before he could be brought to any harm.
The SP denied as rumour reports that some of the victims fired at the minister. Siddiqui said since the minister had made no written complaint, an FIR could not be registered. However, another reports said that the people became angry when the minister’s security men misbehaved with the flood victims and forced them to pull out the car.
Several BJP and Janata Dal (United) leaders have been attacked in the last one fortnight by the flood victims. One of the MLAs had even got his hand fractured in the process.
