Patna, (Bihar Times): The state cabinet on Friday gave its approval to Rs 197 crore for the reconstructing, strengthening and plugging of the breach in the Kosi embankment. The embankment got breached on August 18 at Kusaha in Nepal. More than three million people of the five districts of north-eastern Bihar got displaced because of the devastating floods.
The joint secretary to the cabinet secretariat, Radhakrishna Choudhary said the state government has already got Rs 40 crore out of Rs 197 crore from
the Centre for the breach closure work.
Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (United) national president, Sharad Yadav, was all praise for the Centre for sanctioning Rs 40 crore for strengthening and repairing the embankment.
