Sons of Bihar who made it to Civil Service

Patna (BiharTimes): Sons of a court-clerk (Peshkar) and police Havildar (head constable) are among those who cracked the Civil Services examination of the year 2006.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, son of Daddan Kumar Singh, head clerk, originally from Pega village under Barhara block of Bhojpur district, secured 42nd position and will get the Indian Administrative Service.

 

Daddan is now posted in the Session Court in Sasaram. Sanjay got his education in Sasaram, Patna and Delhi. He served as the Second Officer in the Merchant Navy for three years before resigning to make preparation for the Civil Service Exam. He failed to qualify thrice and this was his last chance. Born on February 28, 1977 his optional subjects were Psychology and History.

On the other hand Sujit Kumar Singh, son of Bhagwan Singh, havildar and instructor in the Bihar Military Police-5 stood 132 and got the Indian Police Service. His optional subjects were History and Geography.

Originally from Nad, a township in Rohtas district, Sujit, 25, did his matriculation from Maner High School. Maner is a block in Patna district. He did his Intermediate from Patna College. He then went to Hindu College in Delhi for graduation where he was looked down upon by both the authorities and students. However, he topped in the University in all the three-years. This was his second attempt.

Not only is his father in police, one of his uncles is in Bihar Police while other in the BSF.

Unlike the above two Syed Waquar Raza of Begusarai got his schooling from St Paul School in Barauni Refinery, where his mother Ishrat Bano is also an employee. He passed his 10th in 1996 and in 1998 moved to Aligarh Muslim University. But a year later in 1999 he qualified the Joint Entrance Examination of the Indian Institute of Technology and got admitted in IIT Guwahati.

Raza, son of Syed Nizam Akhtar, did his engineering in Electronic and Communication in 2003. The same year he qualified the Preliminary Test of the Union Public Service Commission, but could not make it. However, he finally succeeded in 2006. He ranked 121 and will get Indian Police Service.

It's not only heartening, but very humbling to see the achievements of these determined youngsters coming from no-so-privileged backgrounds.
Now they must keep their heads on their shoulders and work for the community, taking all care of not succumbing to the corrupt environment prevailing in the bureaucracy. Avoid the dirty politician-bureaucrat nexus and keep your heart in place.
