Patna, May 21, 2025 — In a major push toward transforming Bihar’s agricultural landscape, a high-impact Policy Dialogue on “Accelerating Sustainable and Inclusive Agricultural Growth” was held at the Bihar Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday. The event was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, and convened leading policymakers, agricultural experts, and farmers to chart a path toward innovation-driven rural prosperity.
Organized by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) in collaboration with Bihartimes Development Foundation and Bihar Chamber of Commerce & Industries the dialogue served as a crucial platform for shaping the future of agriculture in the state. The discussions emphasized sustainable practices, climate resilience, and inclusive development.

Farmers from across Bihar shared inspiring success stories, showcasing how climate-smart solutions such as organic farming and precision agriculture have led to increased productivity, higher incomes, and environmental sustainability. These grassroots innovations reflected the potential of modern techniques to transform livelihoods at scale.
Experts highlighted the strategic importance of Bihar’s Agriculture Roadmaps III and IV in enhancing productivity, improving market access, and promoting value chain development. Emphasis was laid on the widespread adoption of certified seeds, advanced farming tools, and capacity-building programs aimed at empowering small and marginal farmers.

Vijay Kumar Sinha engaged deeply with participants, acknowledging the vital role of robust policy frameworks in addressing structural barriers and unlocking innovation. “Our goal is to ensure that every farmer in Bihar has access to the technology, training, and support needed to thrive. A strong, sustainable agricultural sector is key to the state’s future,” he stated.
A recurring theme of the dialogue was collaboration—among government bodies, research institutions, and farming communities—as essential to overcoming challenges such as erratic rainfall, soil degradation, and limited digital outreach.
The event concluded with a unified call for greater investment in farmer training, digital agriculture platforms, and inclusive policies that leave no one behind. With a focus on raising farm incomes, improving soil and nutritional health, and promoting resilience, the dialogue reaffirmed Bihar’s commitment to shaping a future-ready agricultural economy.
As Bihar steps confidently toward its goal of sustainable and inclusive growth, the momentum from this dialogue signals a new era of opportunity for its farming communitie.
