Nitish Kumar attends Iftar party at Haj Bhawan in Patna

Patna, March 27 (IANS) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attended the Iftar party organised at Haj Bhawan in Patna on Thursday amid ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign launched by the BJP to reach out to Muslims community.

‘Saugat-e-Modi’ campaign will reach out to 32 lakh Muslim families and will bring happiness to the weaker section of the community.

He was accompanied by Rural Work Department Minister Ashok Chaudhary, Water Resource Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Jama Khan, and several other leaders of JD-U.

The event witnessed a significant turnout, promoting the message of brotherhood and communal harmony.

During the event, attendees raised slogans of ‘2025 again CM Nitish Kumar’, indicating strong support for the Chief Minister’s leadership ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections.

Minister Ashok Chaudhary emphasised the importance of such events, saying: “JD-U organises Iftar parties every year to maintain brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims.”

Nitish Kumar has been consistently attending Iftar parties over the last four to five days, showcasing his engagement with the Muslim community.

The first Iftar party was organised at Nitish Kumar's residence on Sunday, though it faced a partial boycott by some Muslim organisations due to his alliance with the BJP.

Besides, he also attended Chirag Paswan’s Iftar party and joined the Iftar organised by Jitan Ram Manjhi in Patna. He also participated in his party minister Jama Khan’s Iftar event.

The ongoing Iftar events reflect the intense political symbolism in Bihar. The RJD, led by Lalu Prasad Yadav, has been actively spearheading these events.

Lalu Prasad Yadav also hosted an Iftar party at the residence of senior leader Abdul Bari Siddiqui on Monday, which saw a large turnout from the Muslim community.

On Tuesday, the BJP launched its nationwide outreach program for the minorities, starting with the distribution of ‘Saugat-e-Modi' kits to the Muslim community, ahead of Eid celebrations.

The initiative, steered by the BJP’s Minority Morcha, saw 200 individuals from Navi Mumbai receiving their ‘Saugat-e-Modi' kits on the first day of launch.

The unique initiative has been welcomed by Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM), an independent Muslim organisation aligned with nationalist ideas.

MRM Convenor and National Spokesperson Shahid Sayeed welcomed the unique initiative and termed it ‘historic and exemplary’

He said that in the last 11 years, the Modi government has taken more historic decisions for Muslims, Sikhs and Christians than any other government since independence.

Under the ‘Saugat-e-Modi’ (gifts from Modi), gift packs will be provided to at least 32 lakh economically disadvantaged families. The gift packs will be distributed at various programs, to be held in collaboration with mosques.
