V Neelkantham, director, India Tourism, Patna, said that Bihar can make a mark in the tourism world with a series of shrines, monasteries and temples. Whether you are follower of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism or Islam, the state has something to offer to everyone.
He also agreed that the state’s rich medical facilities can cater to global visitors especially for Buddhist tourists. Medical treatment in India is much cheaper than the Buddhist regions, and Bihar offers it at the lowest price, almost one-third of the cost in metro cities of India. There are several treatments that need limited time. They may go for tourism after the treatment.
“We have several approved tour operators who may design attractive packages. We will certainly promote it,” he added.
Kailash Jha, Trustee of Shri Sitaram Ashram, Bihta, Patna, took the opportunity to introduce how the ashram has preserved heritage of Swami Sahajanand Saraswati, who dedicated his life to the cause of political and economic independence of Indian people.
Jha also showcased a number of memorabilia pertaining to farmers’ movement in 1936-37. He invited the attendees to visit the ashram which has been revived and renovated during the past few years.
