BJP inducts two leaders from Bihar in national executive

Patna,(BiharTimes): The Bihar unit president of the BJP, Radha Mohan Singh and state’s Health Minister Nand Kishore Yadav have been included as special invitees to the national executive of the party. The move came just after some senior leaders like Shatrughan Singh, former MP, C P Thakur, Syed Shahnawaz Husain (all cabinet ministers in the Vajpayee cabinet), not to speak of many others, openly questioned the new team announced by the party president Nitin Gadkari.

Only time will tell whether this damage limitation exercise is going to work or not, but there is no denying the fact that there is turmoil in the BJP. Leaders are quite upset over the elevation of Ravi Shankar Prasad as the general secretary and chief spokesman of the party. Apart from him Kiran Ghai is another leader to be taken into the team of office-bearers.

As they both are Kayasthas the anger of the other upper caste leaders was natural. Even Shatrughan Sinha, himself a Kayastha, felt offended by the way senior leaders were being ignored.

At the time when Nitish Kumar government is deliberately sounding anti-upper caste, in particular anti-Bhumihar, the move by the central leadership of the BJP to ignore them may prove counter-productive. Besides exposing the intra-Bihar feud within the party the constitution of new team also created a Bihar-Maharashtra chasm within the party. Many Bihari leaders are feeling let down and that too when the assembly election is in the corner.
