CPI ML charges Bihar govt with manipulating growth rate figures

Patna,(BiharTimes): The general secretary of the CPI ML (Liberation), Dipankar Bhattacharya, charged the state government with fudging the figures in the latest Economic Survey of the state.

Talking to newsmen on Friday he cited several examples as to how the same figures were manipulated within 12 months. The figures mentioned in Economic Survey of 2008-09 have been changed in 2009-10.

For example the previous Survey shows that Bihar registered the growth rate of just 7.34 per cent in the 2008-09. It also shows that the agriculture registered a negative growth of -.07 per cent. But the Economic Survey of this year shows that the state registered a growth rate of 13.33 per cent during the same period. How can this happen?

He said that the growth rate figures have been fudged with the sole purpose of showing to the world that Bihar has achieved the growth rate of 11.03 per cent between 2004 and 2009.

Bhattacharya asked the Nitish Kumar government to explain in the state assembly as to how the figures of the two Economic Survey differed from each other.
