Patna second best place to start a business, World Bank report

Patna, (Biharimes.com): Patna may have hardly attracted any investment in the last several years but the World Bank thinks that it is second only to New Delhi in terms of ease of starting a business.

According to Doing Business In India 2009 report of the World Bank and International Finance Corporation Jaipur, Hyderabad and Bhubaneshwar are the other cities where it is easier to start a business. Patna is ahead of Mumbai, which is third. In all 17 cities figured in the list.

The report further said doing business is the easiest in Ludhiana, followed by Hyderabad, Bhubaneshwar, Gurgaon, Ahmedabad, New Delhi, Jaipur and Guwahati. However, Patna was ranked 14th so far doing business is considered. Thus it is above Chennai, which stood at 15th position, while Kolkata, placed 17th, was at the bottom of the list.

The report ranks the cities based on seven parameters: starting a business, dealing with construction permits, registering property, paying taxes, trading across borders, enforcing contracts and closing a business.

However, the rankings do not take into account the macroeconomic conditions, infrastructure, workforce skills or security.

World Bank Report unquestionably gave a positive message to Bihar, India and million of Investors around the world about the potential of Bihar to grow and lead the nation to achieve Vision 2020. The credit of this report goes to all people working and living there, whose thinking is changing day by day and who are always dreaming to give the same position to Bihar which it was having when Patliputra was India’s capital.
It’s true that only Nitish Kumar (CM, Bihar) is the person who made people to dream such things. The positive environment made by him made many things easy and approachable is Bihar. It has been already proved that Bihari are known globally for their labor, and managerial skills and now their land (Bihar) is also giving such gesture to the Global Investor community.

Bihar's status as second most investment friendly state in india is another feather in Nitish cap. Nitish government deserves appreciation for giving positive impact internationally but the parameter set by world bank is to an extent posed matter of concern since the significancy of bihar's workforce was underestimated. Notwithstanding it is good gesture by world bank to invite multinational giant to utilize workforce and hone as per their requirement and make asset for their organization. As a matter of fact Bihari laborers are known globally for their labor, and managerial skills.
As far as infrastructure is concerned, government must have been realizing the truth and private investment in order to develop infrastructure must be given priority.

World bank report undoubtedly gave positive message to Bihar and the prospect of future investment provided that Nitish government capatalize it meticulously.
