CBI probe into Bihar engineer’s ‘murder’ begins

Patna, (Bihar Times): A 15-member team of the Central Bureau of Investigation led by joint director, S P Singh, on Sunday began investigations into the alleged murder of executive engineer of the road construction department, Yogendra Pandey, at Sitamarhi collectorate in Bihar on June 18.

The Bureau team also includes forensic experts. It reached Sitamarhi and inspected the spot at collectorate premises from where Pandey’s body was recovered.

Earlier, it was officially claimed that Pandey committed suicide by jumping from the roof of three-storey collectorate building on June 18.

However, Bihar Engineering Services Coordination Committee (BESCC) and Pandey’s family members claimed that he was killed and the body thrown to the ground when he went to meet Superintendent of Policen, Kshtraneel Singh, to seek a bodyguard following repeated threats to his life. They seek the removal of the SP.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ordered CBI inquiry into the incident on June 25 after the state government engineers went on strike. They have threatened to go on strike once again from July 2 if the SP is not removed and murder case not instituted against him.
