Patna, (BiharTimes): Even as the Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal on Thursday raised the issue of agitating students of Chandragupta Institute of Managment Patna (CIMP) in the state assembly, the human resources development minister ( HRD) minister Hari Narayan Singh blamed a section of students of breaking discipline under the influence of liquor.

Earlier, raising the issue in the House during the debate on the budgetary demand of HRD ministry, Abdul Bari Siddiqui (RJD) alleged that students of Bihar had to listen to derogatory words like “bastard” and “Bihari cheats” at the institute. This evoked shouts of “shame, shame” from the RJD bench.
Urging the HRD minister to visit the institute Siddiqui said the students have been sitting on an indefintite hunger strike for the last three days. They paid Rs 5 lakh for the two-year course, the director was being paid an abnormally high salary. Siddiqui also alleged rampant financial irregularities in the institute and said a flat of a senior IAS officer of the HRD department had been taken on rent at Rs 75,000 per month for running the institute.
On the other hand parliamentary affairs minister Ramashray Prasad Singh objected to Siddiqui’s using words in the assembly on basis of hearsay. He said the RJD members remarks should be expunged.
However, the HRD minister, during his reply, conceded that the main demand of the students, that is increase in the number of permanent faculty members, is being looked into. The government has sanctioned the post of eight more permanent faculty members and the appointment process is on, he added.
At the same time he attributed the stir to a handful of students breaking discipline under the influence of liquor. He alleged that Siddiqui was giving a bad name to the institute on the basis of false charges levelled by the students.
